Here are some customer reviews:

Positive

“I have had a wonderful experience with FIGO thus far. My dog was sick and needed blood work, X-rays, follow up visits, medication, etc. once the deductible was met, they paid almost everything. It took a couple of weeks to get my reimbursement but I thought it was fairly timely. The only reason I gave 4 stars was because of this and because I have really only had one experience with them at this point. I would definitely recommend FIGO. This insurance saved me a lot of out of pocket expense with just one illness. We never found out what was wrong, but it waded up quickly and was a very high vet bill!” —Dan C., Trustpilot

“I should have gotten this years ago. After paying thousands of dollars for chemotherapy for one of my dogs, I decided to get Figo on my other two dogs. I haven’t had to file any expensive claims yet, but I know anything can happen no matter how well I take care of my fur-babies. I feel better knowing that if I ever need to take another dog to chemotherapy, it will be covered.” —Char, Trustpilot

“We love Figo! Our 90 lb GSD, Zigi, was a puppy mill rescue, and we’ve learned that anything that can go wrong with his health seems to. He has had multiple surgeries – some major, some not – most of which can be chalked up to a poor immune system, and Figo has been a bit of a savior for us. It’s stressful and heartbreaking enough when your dog gets hurt or is sick, but knowing the financial burden is going to be much less with Figo takes that part of the stress away. We are very grateful.” —Annie, Trustpilot

Negative

“I have gotten nothing from Figo (not even a dime toward my deductible) except a portable water bowl & a 25% increase in the rate for a two-year-old dog. Very disappointed. Figo is all show & no substance. Disappointed.” —Consumer, Trustpilot

The company’s platform integrates comprehensive insurance coverage with customizable healthcare packages, socially connects pet owners, and offers geo-targeted services, enabling customers to monitor the health of their pets effortlessly.

Final Thoughts on Figo Pet Insurance

Insurance can help negate the costs of a pet emergency. Figo is a good option for those pet owners looking to invest in pet insurance. Figo offers options including up to 100% reimbursement and deductibles as low as $100 per year. Furthermore, Figo has no upper age limit, a multi-pet discount, a mobile app, and three levels of coverage to choose from.

Figo might be a bit pricier than other companies, but with 100% reimbursement, it can pay for itself. The Figo pet insurance reviews also give you an idea of what to expect. Most customers are satisfied, but some are unhappy with the change in underwriters, making the company more expensive.

What are the advantages of Figo’s pet insurance?

Figo pet insurance has a range of deductibles to meet everyone’s needs. The company also has a mobile app it calls the Pet Cloud app that allows you to access 24/7 vet chat and file a claim with ease. It can even remind you of upcoming appointments and recommend popular pet-friendly locations near you.

Lastly, Figo offers a diminishing deductible that will decrease by $50 every year no claim is filed.

Does Figo offer exotic pet insurance?

No, like most pet insurance companies, Figo only covers dogs and cats under its policies.

What is Figo’s waiting period?

A waiting period is the time between the purchase of a policy and when it will go into effect. Each company will have different guidelines regarding waiting periods. Figo has a one-day waiting period for accidents, 14 days for illnesses, and six months for more severe issues like:

  • Cruciate Ligament Injuries
  • Luxating Patellas
  • Portosystemic Shunts
  • Elbow Dysplasia
  • Hip Dysplasia
  • Osteochondritis Dissecans
  • Cardiovascular Defect

Sometimes these can be waived with an exam and form submitted from the vet’s office.

How does Figo’s deductible work?

Figo offers customizable deductibles starting at $100 and going up to $1,500 based on your pet’s age, breed, and health. The deductible is the amount you must pay before the insurance kicks in. Keep in mind that the lower your deductible is, the higher your monthly premium will be and vice versa. Figo also offers a diminishing deductible program where your deductible will go down $50 every year that you don’t file a claim on the policy.

Can I insure my pet twice?

While you can technically insure the same pet with two different policies, it is not recommended. If the insurance company finds out, it can cancel your policy. Also, it is illegal to file a claim with two different companies for the same service. If you choose to have two insurance plans, ensure your policies fill any coverage gaps you may have. For example, one has wellness coverage while the other doesn’t. You can have two plans but only use one at a time.

Does Figo cover dental?

No, Figo does not cover teeth cleaning. At this time, there is no wellness benefit option under Figo Pet Insurance. The company does not cover gingivitis or progressive periodontal disease caused by the accumulation of tartar, but it will cover reconstruction or removal of teeth if the injury is a result of an accident.

Figo will provide some coverage for vaccinations, as it has recently added a wellness benefit.

Does Figo cover spay and neuter?

Figo covers spay and neuter under its new wellness benefit.

Does Figo cover prescription food?

Figo covers up to $250 annually of prescription food with its new wellness add-on.

Does Figo cover hip dysplasia?

Figo does cover hip dysplasia so long as it is not considered a pre-existing condition. However, this condition may be affected by specific sub limits in the policy, so be sure to read the fine print if you have a breed that is susceptible to this condition.

Our Rating Methodology

Here at Quartz, our research team looks to examine all pet insurance policies and comes up with reviews based on:

  • Coverage
  • Plan options
  • Cost
  • Reputation
  • Customer service
  • Species available
  • Wellness benefits

We’ve created a 5-star rating system to score pet insurance brands based on a 100-point scale. To develop a list of the best pet insurance plans, we looked into plans, rating coverage, claims handling, reimbursements, deductibles, and limitations.

Each factor is weighted differently based on the following factors:

  • Monthly Pricing (25 points): How each pet insurance company charges for their plans is a crucial part of the decision-making process of the customer. Affordable rates and comprehensive coverage are the defining characteristics of providing the best pet insurance.
  • Coverage (20 points): We scored companies based on the treatments and procedures they cover. Providers offering broader coverage and more unique treatments received more points.  Pet insurance policies are not offered by all companies for older pets. Providers who have an age limit on the pets they cover were deducted points.
  • Plans (15 points): Pet insurance providers offer accident-and-illness plans, accident-only plans, wellness add-ons, and pet preventive care add-ons, so customers can choose the right plan for their pets. We also factored in costs to achieve the most comprehensible review for your pet’s needs.
  • Customization Options (10 points): You can ensure your pet only gets what they need by customizing your policy. A higher score was earned by providers who offered a greater range of annual limits, deductibles, and reimbursement rates.
  • Customer Service (10 points): We scored companies based on their website accessibility and usability, mobile apps, and grating points to companies with the most customer experience options.
  • Industry Reputation (10 points): We assessed each company’s industry reputation by reviewing up-to-date BBB ratings and accreditation information, as well as their years of experience in the industry.
  • Waiting Periods (10 points): Companies with shorter accident and illness waiting periods scored higher than companies with longer waiting periods.

Our team revisits each company’s information at the end of every month to make updates and ensure the information is as accurate as possible.
