Honda owners may purchase pre-paid maintenance for terms up to 4 years/60,000 miles. The plan pays for manufacturer-recommended interval service to include the following:

Honda Tire And Wheel Protection

If you want to protect your Honda’s tires and wheels from damage caused by road hazards, the automaker offers a protection plan that lasts up to 84 months with costs ranging from $249 to $749. Some dealerships selling this protection offer all or some of the specific coverages listed below:

• Tire replacements: Pays to replace tires that cannot be salvaged or if the damage to the wheel prevents the tire and wheel from making an airtight seal
• Flat tires: Pays up to $35 per flat tire and $65 per tire for run flats
• Roadside assistance: Covers up to $100 for towing or flat-tire changing service
• Mounting and balancing: Pays for labor for mounting, balancing, valve stem replacement, and the disposal of a tire and/or wheel
• Alternative transport: Pays up to $40 per day for a maximum of 3 days while your vehicle is in the shop
• Trip interruption: Pays up to $500 maximum for meals and lodging and reimbursements if your car breaks down due to road hazard damage more than 100 miles from your home
• Optional cosmetic coverage: For an additional cost, minor cosmetic damages to the tire and/or rim are covered

Honda Dent Protection

Honda’s Dent Protection covers the cost to repair minor dents and dings that are four inches or smaller in diameter. Honda uses a paintless dent repair process that does not require sanding or painting.

Honda Windshield Protection Plan

Honda’s Windshield Protection Plan provides protection against damage caused by common road hazards. This plan has no claim limit or deductible if the damage is less than two inches. Larger damage has a limit of $500 worth of repairs.

Honda Appearance Package

The automaker does not publish prices for its extended service contracts. Our review team contacted several dealerships to get estimates for multiple Honda vehicles to help you research and compare extended warranty options. Below are the estimates we received:

Honda Extended Warranty Prices

Extended warranties from Honda range from $760 to $1,260 depending on the model and deductible you choose. Below we list the prices our review team received when we contacted several dealerships to get estimates for Honda vehicles based on varying deductibles.

2020 Honda Civic Extended Warranty Prices

First, we checked prices for a 2020 Civic with 4,000 miles. At this point, the car is eligible for the longest coverage from Honda Care. Here are the details on exclusionary coverage for 8 years/120,000 miles.

For new cars under 6,000 miles, the time and mileage limits are measured from the in-service date.

2019 Honda Civic Extended Warranty Prices

Note that the time and mileage limits are measured differently for the next two quotes. Time limits start on the day the plan is purchased. But the mileage still expires according to the odometer. 

Below are Honda Care’s extended warranty costs for a 2019 Honda Civic with 15,000 miles. This car still has a couple of years left on the factory warranty.

2017 Honda Civic Cost

We also looked at a quote for a 2017 Honda Civic with 35,999 miles. So, this car is at the end of its factory warranty and is almost ineligible for a Honda extended warranty. Here are the same plans as before but with different prices:

You can see that these plans are a little bit more expensive than the plans for the 2019 Civic. Remember that these options cover four or five years from the purchase of the plan. So, the 2017 Civic would be covered later into its lifetime than the 2019 Civic.

These prices are on the affordable end of how much an extended warranty should cost. Keep in mind that third-party companies can offer coverage for many more miles. Coverage for 200,000 miles would cost more than coverage for 120,000 miles.

Honda Certified Pre-Owned Warranty

Certified pre-owned Honda vehicles come with a HondaTrue Certified+ warranty lasting 7 years/100,000 miles for vehicles produced between 2019 and 2024. This is an extension of the factory powertrain warranty. CPO Hondas also come with a bumper-to-bumper warranty that will vary depending on the vehicle’s age but ranges from one to five years and up to 86,000 miles.

While there are many things to like about Honda’s extended warranty, there are a couple of downsides. First of all, you can’t get the plan if your factory warranty has expired. Also, Honda’s factory warranty is short, so there isn’t much time to decide if you want to add extra coverage.

Also, the warranty requires you to visit a Honda dealer for repairs. You can only go elsewhere if it’s an emergency. This can be inconvenient if you don’t live very close to a Honda dealership.
