Chubb Auto Insurance Coverage

With Chubb auto insurance, you can get the following standard types of car insurance coverage:

Liability coverage provides the minimum of bodily injury and personal property damage coverage. Other types of car insurance policies, like comprehensive and collision coverage, extend coverage limits and provide coverage for additional types of damage.

The Masterpiece®, as Chubb’s auto coverage is known, includes a number of perks, like repairs using OEM parts. The coverage is extensive and probably covers a bit more than the average driver needs, but for those with expensive vehicles, Chubb auto insurance checks all the right boxes.

Here’s a closer look at the types of insurance benefits Chubb offers:

Chubb Auto Insurance Costs

Chubb Auto Insurance customers pay an average of $1,904 per year or $159 per month for full-coverage car insurance. That’s just below the national average of $1,968 per year for similar coverage.

Drivers interested in basic liability coverage can expect to pay $1,046 yearly or $87 monthly, which is far above the national average of $798 per year.

Chubb Auto Insurance Discounts

Chubb only lists a few discounts for its auto insurance policies on its website. Depending on your state and other factors, you may be eligible for the following:

  • Home and auto bundling discount: If you have Chubb car insurance and Chubb homeowners insurance, you can bundle your policies to save on both.
  • SafeLane discount: Get 10% off your auto insurance premium just for signing up for Chubb’s usage-based insurance program, SafeLane. You could get an additional 20% off with safe driving habits.

Other Common Auto Insurance Discounts

Since Chubb doesn’t list many discounts online, it’s worth asking your insurance agent if any others are available. Below are car insurance discounts that are common across the industry:

  • Good student discount: Full-time students with good grades may receive a discount on their car insurance coverage.
  • Driver training discount: Drivers who participate in driver education may receive a reduction in their car insurance premiums.
  • Accident prevention course (defensive driving): A defensive driving course is a way to improve safe driving skills and save money on car insurance.
  • Safety features: Safety feature discounts typically include rate reductions for seat belts, air bags, anti-lock brakes, and other features.
  • Multiple car: If you insure more than one vehicle through one provider, rates for both vehicles could receive a discount.

Chubb Auto Insurance Reviews

Chubb insurance reviews are mixed. The Better Business Bureau (BBB) gave Chubb a D- rating, claiming that it failed to respond to 99 customer complaints. However, credit agency AM Best rated the provider’s financial strength at A++ (Superior).

According to comments on the BBB and Yelp, customer reviews are mostly negative. While many comments on the platform are about Chubb’s other insurance products, some auto customers cite issues with customer service responsiveness and coverage. There are a few positive reviews, however, and they cite Chubb’s willingness to help.

Chubb didn’t rank in J.D. Power’s 2023 Auto Insurance StudySM, which measures overall customer satisfaction, or in the 2023 Auto Claims Satisfaction StudySM, which measures customer satisfaction with the claims process.

Chubb has a mobile app, through which policyholders are able to pay for and manage their policies. The app has good reviews, with a rating of 3.9 out of 5.0 on Google Play and 4.5 out of 5.0 on the App Store.

Chubb Auto Insurance: Our Take

Overall, Chubb is a reputable car insurance company that we’re giving 4.0 stars out of 5.0. We believe that Chubb auto insurance would be a great coverage option for collector cars or other high-end vehicles that have specific needs, like high insurance limits and agreed value coverage. However, Chubb’s customer satisfaction experience could be improved.

As always, we recommend comparing car insurance quotes you receive from Chubb Auto Insurance against those from other providers.

When you’re shopping around for the best auto insurance, it’s a good idea to compare car insurance companies and policies to find the coverage that works for you. We researched the best companies in the industry, and Progressive and Geico were two that came out on top. Here’s what we like about each provider.

Geico: Best For Basic Coverage

We named Geico auto insurance the best car insurance company for basic coverage. It has reasonable premiums, a  smooth insurance claims process, and a strong reputation, with an A+ rating from the BBB and an A++ financial strength rating from AM Best–the best rating possible.

In addition to standard auto insurance coverages, Geico provides extras like roadside assistance, rental car reimbursement, and mechanical breakdown insurance. You can also save on your premium with Geico’s usage-based insurance program.

On top of all of that, Geico insures collector vehicles, so the company may be a good option for you if you’re considering Chubb auto insurance for your collector car. We recommend getting a quote from both Geico and Chubb to compare your options.

Progressive: Best For High-Risk Drivers

Another top auto insurance company, Progressive offers a wide variety of coverage options and a convenient Name Your Price® tool. The company also has an A+ financial strength rating from AM Best.

Beyond standard coverage, you can get roadside assistance, rental car reimbursement, loan/lease payoff, custom parts and equipment coverage, and rideshare coverage with Progressive car insurance. Progressive’s usage-based insurance program Snapshot was one of the first in the industry, and it allows you to pay based on how well and how often you drive.

If you decide to reach out for a quote, make sure to take advantage of the Name Your Price tool. It doesn’t save you money, but it does quickly find you a plan that fits your budget.

How We Rated Chubb Auto Insurance:

Our review team extensively researches auto insurance providers to deliver informed and unbiased assessments of leading companies. We evaluate several key rating factors that are important to consumers to determine which providers are the best in the industry:

  • Reliability: It’s important that an auto insurer is able to meet its claims obligations. Companies with a strong financial strength rating from AM Best score best in this category. Established insurers with a long history of reliable service also receive positive marks.
  • Availability: Insurance companies that offer wider availability to consumers in terms of state availability and few eligibility requirements are more likely to meet consumer needs.
  • Coverage: To determine our coverage score, we look at the number of coverage options available as well as coverage limits and deductible options. Our ratings also take into account additional services and benefits like roadside assistance.
  • Pricing: Cost can be difficult to compare between insurers because so many factors impact annual premiums. The cheapest insurer for one driver may not be the cheapest for another. To determine our cost score, we look at insurance rate estimates generated by Quadrant Information Services, discount opportunities, and consumer reports.
  • Service: We comb through customer reviews on sites like the Better Business Bureau (BBB) to learn about customer experiences. Insurers with a low volume of complaints score well in this area. We also consider the claims process, giving higher ratings to car insurance providers that offer a smooth experience.
  • Technology: Providers with an online quote tool, easy-to-use claims app and a usage-based insurance app score best in this category.
